I’m an Assistant Fitness Manager at a local gym here in Houston. My job is to meet the new members of the gym and put them through a Fitness Assessment. We talk about their goals, reasons why they joined the gym, what they’re trying to accomplish, etc. We talk about where they are, and where they want to be in a matter of time. I always ask, “Well why haven’t we been consistent in the past?” Most people answer, “Time.”
Time plays a HUGE factor in your consistency of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s so much easier to drive thru then to defrost meat, bake or grill it, cook veggies and potatoes on the side. BUT, is easier the best option? Do you want the easy option now to have a shorter life? OR, do you want to take time now, to have time later?
Let’s break it down. There are 7 days in the week. In each day there are 24 hours. Out of the entire week, there are 168 hours to live. You work 40 hours, do the kids’ after school functions for 4 hours, sleep for 56 hours, eat 21 hours.. that leaves you 47 hours of free time.. hopefully. Out of the 47 hours left, can you commit to doing something active or exercising for 4? And prepping meals ahead of time for 5-7? That would still leave you 36 hours of life in your week!
Think about it. Your health MUST be important. Not only for you, but also for the people around you. Think about your kiddos. If you’re feeding them junk now because it’s fast, are they going to be in the same situation as you when they reach your age? Struggling to catch up to their health?
A healthy lifestyle must be a top priority. Even if it is the harder option now, I promise you, you wont regret it later.
